ICECO's lineup is deep, and their naming takes a minute to decode — VL45ProD and APL35 don't explain themselves on the shelf. Here's the shop's plain-English map of the range, plus who each series is actually for. (Newer to 12V fridges entirely? Start with the buying guide first.)
Cracking the model names
The system is consistent once you see it: series + liters + zone suffix. The number is capacity in liters (multiply by ~1.06 for quarts), S means single zone, D means dual zone, and Pro marks the updated generation of that series. So a VL45ProD is a VL-series Pro generation, 45 liters (~47QT), dual zone.
VL Series — the steel workhorse
The VL line is ICECO's core: powder-coated steel cabinets, SECOP compressors, metal spring-loaded handles, and the 3-stage battery protection system. The Pro generation refines the formula — side-opening lids you can access from either side without removing them, weatherproof control panels, clearer displays, and taller basket clearance (13" on the VL45Pro, enough for standing bottles). Sizes run from compact through the 75/90-liter dual-zone haulers.
Who it's for: truck and SUV builds where the fridge lives on a slide or in a drawer system and gets used hard. This is the series we install most, and the VL45ProD at $799 is the value benchmark of the whole category right now.
APL Series — aluminum, built light
Same refrigeration guts, different cabinet philosophy: the APL line uses aluminum bodies to cut weight — meaningful when the fridge rides high in an SUV or gets lifted in and out solo. The APL35 dual zone gives you two-zone flexibility in a 37QT footprint at $759.
Who it's for: crossover and wagon builds, weight-conscious setups, and anyone who loads the fridge into the vehicle per-trip rather than leaving it mounted.
JP Series — the streamlined middle
The JP line slots between GO and VL — simpler trim, same compressor pedigree, priced to move. Availability rotates; ask us what's current.
GO Series — small on purpose
The GO20 packs a genuine dual-zone compressor fridge into a ~21QT package. It's not the family fridge — it's the console/behind-seat unit for solo travelers, the drinks fridge that supplements a big one, or the first compressor fridge for someone testing the water.
Who it's for: daily drivers, two-door rigs, and "one person, long weekend" trips.
BF Series — the built-in
Different animal: the BF86 is an upright 91QT dual-compartment refrigerator/freezer designed to be built into a camper, RV, or truck-bed cabinet system. Because it's upright with a front door, it uses vertical space and needs no slide — which is exactly the geometry a Goose Gear-style buildout or canopy camper wants.
Who it's for: permanent installs. If we're building out your SmartCap or camper interior, this is the conversation we'll have.
