Do you install SmartCaps yourselves?
Yes. Every SmartCap sold locally is installed at our Fremont or San Marcos showroom by our own team. We're certified SmartCap Master Builders, which means direct training and support from the manufacturer.
Can I buy a SmartCap without installation?
Absolutely. We ship SmartCaps nationwide for free. If you're outside California and want to install yourself or use a local shop, we'll ship the cap and support you throughout the install.
How long does installation take?
Most installations take 2-3 hours depending on the model and any accessories. We'll give you a scheduled time and typically have you back on the road the same day.
What's the warranty?
SmartCap comes with a 5-year manufacturer warranty. As a Master Builder, we handle warranty claims in-house — no calling the manufacturer, no waiting on hold. Bring it to us and we'll take care of it.
Do you drill into my truck bed?
No. SmartCap mounts to the factory bed rails using clamps — no drilling required. The cap can be removed later without any damage or holes in your truck.
What's the roof weight capacity?
The SmartCap roof is rated for 800 lbs static load and 300 lbs dynamic (driving) load — enough for a rooftop tent, roof rack loaded with gear, or expedition boxes. This is a real differentiator vs. fiberglass caps that aren't rated for RTT use.
