LIFESAVER Jerrycan Graphene: Ultra Filter Cartridge

The Graphene: Ultra Cartridge is an upgrade for LifeSaver’s Jerrycan range, adding state‑of‑the‑art chemical adsorption to the brand’s well‑proven hollow‑fibre ultrafiltration membranes. It is the same size and shape as a standard Jerrycan cartridge, so it can retrofit existing models or be supplied installed in a new Jerrycan.

A conventional ultrafiltration membrane physically blocks viruses, bacteria and protozoa, but the addition of a graphene composite element provides three new chemical adsorption mechanisms—conjugated molecule stacking, electrostatic interactions/surface complexation and hydrophobic interactions. This means the filter removes 99.9999 % of bacteria and 99.99 % of viruses, parasites and microplastics for up to 20 000 litres, while also reducing PFAS/PFOA “forever chemicals,” antibiotics and heavy metals to safe levels for between 700 and 1 200 litres, depending on the contaminant. In independent tests it meets or exceeds NSF/ANSI P231, NSF/ANSI 42 and NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 standards.

The cartridge is foil‑wrapped using an aluminium barrier foil that prevents water vapour ingress and retains glycerine in the hollow fibres, giving it a shelf life of more than ten yearsi. It purifies at least 700 litres (about 185 US gal) and provides a fast flow rate—3.2 L/min at 0.9 bar. The failsafe membrane stops water flow when it becomes clogged, while the graphene element behaves like a carbon filter: once saturated it no longer removes chemicals but does not block water, so users must track the volume filtered and replace the cartridge when necessary. Designed for emergency kits and off‑grid travel, the cartridge requires no chemicals or electricity, is BPA/BPS‑free and comes with a two‑year warranty.
